The Beef Demand Struggle Continues

Our Beef Buzz today is with Erica Rosa, Livestock Market Economist with the Livestock Market Information Center. We focus with Erica on the issue of Beef Demand, which has slipped as much as 10% over the last year.
She believes that beef demand has some potential to improve in 2010, but it will be a struggle.
Rosa says we are coming out of recession, but it was been a slow recovery as more spending is starting to happen. However, unemployment will likely stay in the 8 to 10% range for much of 2010, and that will continue to be a major drag on beef prices.
You can hear her comments about beef demand, as well as a quick preview from Joe Victor of Allendale on this Friday's Cattle on Feed report. Victor thinks we will finally see smaller placements of cattle in feedlots in this latest report. He also anticipates improved marketings in November of this year versus last.
USDA's Cattle on Feed numbers will be released at 2 PM Central Time on Friday afternoon from USDA.
