We Talk GIPSA Rule with Ross Wilson of TCFA- Part Two
Thu, 02 Sep 2010 15:39:45 CDT
The Chief Executive Officer of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, Ross Wilson, says the changes that will hit the beef cattle feedlot industry will not occur all at once- but gradually the litigation risks that he and other say are a part of the proposal will have processors and packers pulling away from marketing agreements- to avoid being chased by trial lawyers who may claim the documentation they have filed with Uncle Sam is not adequate.

AFR/OFU Offers Public Speaking Opportunity to Oklahoma Youth
Northeast District I
Tuesday, November 17, 2015
American Farmers & Ranchers - Oklahoma Farmers Union (AFR/OFU) kicks off its annual fall speech contest series November 5, 2015. Each year, the contest engages young Oklahomans from across the state, with more than 500 students competing in the contest’s five districts.
At each district contest, students grades 4-12 compete in five categories - American Farmers & Ranchers, Natural Resources, Student Organizations, Agribusiness and Agriscience. The district contests result in more than 160 finalists advancing to the state contest held on the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater.
“Over the years, our speech contests have been an AFR/OFU priority activity for the youth of Oklahoma,” said AFR/OFU President Terry Detrick. “The opportunity these young people have to better their leadership skills and hone their ability to speak publically makes every participant a winner. We encourage every teacher, parent and grandparent to introduce their young people to this opportunity and to encourage their participation. They will not regret it.”
The AFR/OFU Fall Speech Contest Series is just one of many AFR/OFU Youth Program traditions. The organization also hosts a poster contest, summer youth leadership summit, statewide scholarships, livestock handling and skills contest, livestock judging and grading and many other leadership opportunities. For more information on how to participate in AFR/OFU’s speech contest or other youth activities, visit the AFR/OFU website at www.iAFR.com.
Qualified individuals are welcome to serve as judges for the 2015 district contests. For more information on speech contest procedure, pre-registration, how to become a judge or other AFR/OFU youth events, contact AFR/OFU Policy & Membership Development Coordinator Steve Thompson at (405) 218-5563 or email@example.com
AFR/OFU was established in 1905 as Oklahoma Farmers Union, and is headquartered in Oklahoma City. The organization is actively supportive of Oklahoma’s agricultural industry and rural population, and provides educational, legislative and cooperative programs across the state. AFR Insurance provides automobile, home, farm and life insurance with an emphasis on quality products and exceptional customer service. Available statewide, AFR Insurance is recognized as a leading domestic insurance carrier in the state of Oklahoma.
