Beef Quality Audit is Underway, Producers Encouraged to Participate

The beef check-off funded Beef Quality Audit is underway for the 2011 year. Being the first time for producers to participate, Tom Field who manages the Beef Quality Audit for the beef check-off says it is important for producers to weigh in to benchmarking what producers believe quality to be within the beef industry.
Field says the Beef Quality Audit was designed to create a benchmark and a "report card" like idea on how the industry is doing relative to factors that impact quality of the products. Field says they are going to take a multi-tiered approach to the audit by conducting face-to-face interviews to find out how each segment of the industry views quality and where each segment is willing to invest money to obtain that quality.
Field also says he predicts the audit to provide a great, positive story to be told that will improve consumer and supply chains confidence in the beef industry products and provide great supporting evidence that the beef industry is taking the issue of quality seriously and it is an industry that can be trusted to provide the best beef in the world. Field also hopes to have 10,000 producers participate in the survey.
