Colin Woodall Talks Trade and More on Today's Beef Buzz

NCBA Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall talks trade and ELDs in our latest Beef Buzz- hosted by Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays. Woodall says cattlemen are concerned about the Trump Administration's tough talk on NAFTA- and how that could hurt the free and open trade now enjoyed by the US with both Canada and Mexico.
Woodall is also worried about tough talk about the Korean Trade Deal- other wise known as KORUS. Woodall says the last couple of years have been incredible when it comes to US beef and South Korea- they are now the second largest US Beef Export market based on value. NCBA pledges to work with the Trump Administration so they continue to do no harm when it comes to the open door we have on beef trade with South Korea- as well as with Canada and Mexico.
Woodall also talked with Hays about ELDs. The Electronic Logging Devises are now mandated on many over the road trucks- but Woodall feels fortunate that agriculture was able to get some extra time to work with the Department of Transportation in making sure that trucks loaded with livestock are not stuck somewhere where a driver can't drive because of time restrictions. He calls this an animal well being issue- and believes that solutions can be found to keep livestock moving to their destinations.
Finally- Woodall offered an update on the efforts of the cattle group on the Endangered Species Act.
