NCBA's Alisa Harrison Says Beef Industry Has Vast Amount of Resources To Meet Consumers Changing Behaviors
Fri, 26 Jun 2020 09:01:50 CDT
Interacting with consumers after the pandemic has required a quick adjustment of allocating resources for beef producers and the beef checkoff funds said Alisa Harrison, senior vice president of global marketing and research for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

We’re fortunate the beef checkoff has been around for more than 30 years, so we have built up a tremendous library of resources for consumers, Harrison said.
We’re cooking far more at home now and consumers have realized they need our assets, she said.
They love beef and so this was a great opportunity for us to use a wealth of content we have built up over the years, Harrison said.
The NCBA official said one key to interacting with consumers is to understand what they are thinking.
We have been closely monitoring consumer attitudes and behaviors and what they need, she said, as well as monitoring retail needs because the whole supply chain was disrupted.
Harrison said looking ahead, they are asking what consumer behaviors are going to stick, will consumers continue to prepare more meals at home and will restaurants continue to offer curbside meals.
The world has shifted and some of those behaviors have change and our challenge is to figure out how to continue to respond, Harrison said.
She said they’re making plans now for 2021 and trying to figure out what the world is going to look like.
It is a challenge, but we know consumers love beef, she said.
Harrison added beef producers need to continue to be relevant to today’s consumers.
