NCBA's Colin Woodall Says OCM is Spreading Misinformation About The Cattle Industry Group.

The Organization for Competitive Markets (OCM) has been busy spreading misinformation about the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and its leadership. Colin Woodall, CEO of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, recently told Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays that OCM has an anti-animal ag agenda.
It comes down to the simple fact that OCM is nothing more than an arm of the Humane Society of the United States, Woodall said.
We know that HSUS provides them (OCM) with money for their lawsuits, he said.
The fact of the matter is HSUS doesn't like production agriculture, Woodall said.
It is really unfortunate that some cattle producers think OCM is working for them when in fact they are working for HSUS, he said.
Ironically, OCM has accused NCBA of having close ties with HSUS.
NCBA doesn't have any former HSUS employees on staff nor have we ever taken any money from them, Woodall said.
OCM is using the U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef as an example NCBA is in bed with the World Wildlife Fund.
The World Wildlife Fund is not the Humane Society of U.S., Woodall said. The World Wildlife Fund has said cattle production is good for the environment and how grazing is good for grasslands. That is not what HSUS does, Woodall said.
OCM has also attacked NCBA President Marty Smith by accusing him of being president of the Beef Checkoff.
They just don't know what they are talking about and that means more than anything else we need to discredit them, Woodall said.
Marty is a rancher, a volunteer leader and is not president of the beef checkoff, Woodall said.
The fact that HSUS is doing business as OCM shows they don't know this industry and are not speaking for producers, Woodall said.
