Harvest Updates

Oklahoma Wheat Harvest Notes as of Friday Evening June 5

Sat, 06 Jun 2009 8:58:58 CDT

Here's the latest Oklahoma wheat harvest comments, as of Friday afternoon, from the Oklahoma Wheat Commission.

With low humidity and light winds, combines got into the field by early evening last night and the same timetable is expected for today. Altus received three loads today with an average test weight of 59.6 pounds and 12 ½ percent moisture. Comments from producers referred to suckerheads being the cause of their slow return to the field, creating too much moisture. One load registered at 15.8 percent.

Walters and Hollis both expect machines to get back into the field by early evening. Reports from Hollis say they haven’t gotten any loads in today, but had one yesterday that was irrigated Bullet that averaged 25 bu/acre. Test weights are ranging from 60 to 62 pounds from their producers and averaging 12 percent moisture.

In Walters, a load that was cut last night had a 56.2 test weight, 14.2 percent moisture and 2.6 percent dockage. That field averaged 4.4 bu/acre.
