Biotechnology Organization Announces New Managing Director for Biotech InformationWed, 14 Mar 2012 14:01:31 CDT
The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) announced that Richard Lobb has been hired to serve as managing director for the Council for Biotechnology Information (CBI). Lobb brings a long track record of crisis communication, strong media and government relations and multi-media savvy, most recently serving as director of communications for the National Chicken Council.
Lobb will lead CBI’s efforts to communicate science-based information about the benefits and safety of agricultural biotechnology and its contributions to sustainable development.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Richard Lobb to our team,” said BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood. “He is exactly what the CBI Executive Council had in mind when it asked for a media relations expert. His considerable experience in strategic communications planning and media relations will be an asset for members of our Food & Agriculture Section as he manages CBI’s outreach efforts to media, policy makers and other opinion leaders to promote the benefits of agricultural biotechnology.”
Previously, Lobb spent 13 years with the National Chicken Council where the Wall Street Journal once referred to him as “The Merchant of Drumsticks,” and before that he worked in public relations and public affairs for more than 15 years with Fleishman-Hillard and the DCM Group.
