Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 09/29/2014

Actual Receipts: 6517   Last Monday: 7254   Year Ago Monday: 7435

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers traded mostly 2.00 to 6.00                                                                                                                                                                                                                         higher with most advances being seen on 600-700 lb cattle. Steer and heifer calves traded mostly steady to 6.00 higher. Buyers are continuing to discount un-weaned calves, with fluctuating fall weather and temperatures causing health concerns. Cooler temperatures and chances of rain are in the forecast for later in the week. Largest demand has been recorded on larger packages of weaned cattle that are ready to be turned out. Supply included 63 percent over 600 lbs; 40 percent heifers.
