Oklahoma National Stockyards - Mid-Session
Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 04/27/2015

Estimated Receipts: 6,800   Last Monday: 5,419   Year Ago Monday: 7,257

Compared to last week: Feeder steers 2.00-4.00 higher. Feeder heifers steady to 2.00 higher with 600-700 lbs up to 5.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves 2.00-4.00 lower. Demand remains good for feeder cattle despite last Friday's bearish COF report and today's lower cattle futures. Numbers are still limited and along with that more and more heifers are returning to the country as replacements. Demand for calves moderate. Cold, wet weather is limiting demand, especially those unweaned calves. These are seeing discounts of up to 20.00 per cwt to their weaned mates. Heavy rains throughout the day prompted gaunt to average weigh-ups. Rains continue to fall over much of Oklahoma. Yesterday and today those drought stricken areas are receiving much of this moisture.
