NACD Praises Rollout of Conservation Client Gateway
Thu, 28 May 2015 11:46:33 CDT
The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD)is praising the rollout of USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Conservation Client Gateway -- a new online portal providing producers with the ability to work with NRCS and conservation district employees to access Farm Bill programs, request assistance, and track payments for their conservation activities.
"Over time, this new technology will increase efficiency and improve technical services across the nation," said NACD President Lee McDaniel. "The Conservation Client Gateway will allow NRCS and conservation district employees in local service centers to spend less time on administrative tasks, and more time working with producers to get conservation on the ground."
The Conservation Client Gateway enables farmers, ranchers and private landowners to request technical assistance; apply for financial assistance; review, sign and submit applications and contracts; track their payments; and more all via the Internet.
"The Conservation Client Gateway is an exciting new tool that will save precious time and money for farmers, ranchers and private landowners, by providing them the ability to manage online and on their own time a number of administrative functions that could previously only be handled in-person at a USDA service center," said McDaniel.
NACD has been pleased to provide input throughout the development of this new portal. During the process, NACD has hosted focus groups of producers to test and evaluate various components, and has provided opportunities for conservation district officials to view the new technology while in various phases of development.
