Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 05/25/2016

Receipts: 9,224          Last Week: 11,449        Year Ago: 5,894

   Compared to last week: Feeder steers sold 4.00-6.00 lower. Feeder heifers traded 6.00-10.00 lower. Steer and heifer calves mostly 10.00-15.00 lower on limited comparable sales. Demand moderate for feeder cattle. A heavy supply of large load lots of heavy cattle on offer. Lower CME futures contracts early in the week caused for most of the decline in the market. Quality and conditions average to attractive. Strong thunderstorms with tornadic activity are expected towards the end of the week and into the weekend. Supply included 94 percent over 600 lbs and 39 percent heifers.

   Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1 Calves: 425-450 lbs 177.00-183.00; 475-500 lbs 160.00-165.00; 525-550 lbs 160.50-163.50; 550-575 lbs 152.00-163.00, thin fleshed 171.00, fleshy 150.00; 600-650 lbs 146.50-149.00; 650-700 lbs 140.00-146.00, 775-800 lbs 133.50-135.00; Yearlings: 625-675 lbs 151.00-153.00; 700-750 lbs 143.50-149.50; 750-800 lbs 136.25-143.50; 800-850 lbs 132.25-137.50; 850-900 lbs 132.00-136.25, thin fleshed 137.50; 900-975 lbs 125.50-132.50; 1000-1100 lbs 119.00-121.00.
   Medium and Large 1 and 2 Calves: 450-475 lbs 160.00-173.00; 550-600 lbs 150.00-153.00; pkg 600 lbs 140.50; Yearlings: 600-625 lbs 149.00-153.50; 650-700 lbs 144.00-148.00; 700-715 lbs 143.00, thin fleshed 147.75; 750-800 lbs 133.50-139.25; 800-900 lbs 127.50-139.25; 900-1000 lbs 122.00-130.00; 1000-1100 lbs 115.00-121.25.
