Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 05/02/2016


   

Actual Receipts: 5,689   Last Monday: 8,416   Year Ago Monday: 10,303

   Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers sold mostly steady to weak especially for feeder heifers. Steer and heifer calves not well tested. Demand moderate to good for feeder cattle. Cattle futures closed on the plus side following Friday's slight increase. Quality average to attractive. Strong storms and heavy rains across the state hampered livestock movement over the weekend. Supply included 89 percent over 600 lbs and 40 percent heifers.

   Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1 Calves: 430-480 lbs 180.00-192.00; few 500-550 lbs 178.00-180.00, thin fleshed 183.00-184.00; 550-600 lbs 165.00-174.50, thin fleshed 177.00; 625 lbs 144.00; Yearlings: 600-650 lbs 160.00-171.00; 650-700 lbs 158.50-161.25; 700-725 lbs 144.50-151.50; 750-800 lbs 137.75-143.75; 800-850 lbs 132.00-143.00; 850-875 lbs 132.75-138.50, 870 lbs fleshy 128.00; 900-950 lbs 126.75-131.00; 950-1000 lbs 120.75-129.00; 1000-1065 lbs 118.00-123.50.
