Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 8/22/2016

Actual Receipts: 6,049     Week ago:   8,693    Year ago: 7,637

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 4.00-6.00 lower. Steer and heifer calves firm where comparable sales were noted. Quality mostly plain to attractive. Demand light to moderate. Cattle futures struggled to post any gains last week thus slaughter cattle prices sold lower. Cattle futures are trading on the plus side today but not near enough to erase last week's losses. Feeder supply included 55 percent Steers, 43 percent Heifers, and 2 percent Bulls. Feeder Supply over 600 lbs was 71 percent.
