Oklahoma Cattlemen's Foundation Hosts Seminar on Alternative Revenue Streams for Ranchers
Mon, 16 Jan 2017 09:20:12 CST
The Oklahoma Cattlemen's Foundation (OCF) will host an educational seminar that will focus on alternative income sources for the ranch on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017. The event will take place at the Arcadia Conservation Education Building in Edmond, Okla., begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m.
"Exploring alternative incomes is important for those of us in the farming and ranching profession. When the cattle or wheat market drops out of the sky or extreme drought strikes, it's nice to have an alternative income to help get through the hard times." said Jeff Jaronek, OCF Coordinator. "The Oklahoma Cattlemen's Foundation is dedicated to preserving the heritage of the West and the viability of Oklahoma's beef cattle industry through research and education and we are excited to offer this seminar to help in carrying out the Foundation's mission."
The seminar will encourage ranchers to be more diverse. New sources of ranch income can take on a variety of forms, but this seminar will have a focus on wildlife and hunting. Presentations will focus on management of the land and wildlife, legal ramifications, leases and what hunters or wildlife enthusiasts look for.
The cost to attend the event is $20. Lunch will be included. To learn more and register, visit www.okcattlemen.org or call 405.235.4391 by Feb. 1.
