Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 3/27/2017

Receipts: 4,799    Week ago:    6,574    Year ago: 3,216

Compared to last week, steer calves steady to 5.00 lower, heifer calves steady to 5.00 higher, yearlings steady to 2.00 higher. Demand moderate to good, supply moderate to light. A higher percent of un-weaned fall calves in the offering. Live Cattle and Feeder Cattle futures closed sharply lower. Much needed rain fell across the trade area with more in the forecast. The recent USDA Cattle On Feed showed 100 percent On Feed, 99 percent Placements, 104 percent Marketed. Feeder supply included 47 percent Steers, 46 percent Heifers, and 7 percent Bulls. Feeder Supply over 600 lbs was 51 percent.
