Veteran Plant Pathologist Partners with CropLife Foundation to Launch New Podcast, POPAgriculture

Thu, 27 Jul 2017 09:52:58 CDT

Veteran Plant Pathologist Partners with CropLife Foundation to Launch New Podcast, POPAgriculture Steve Savage, a plant pathologist who has worked in the agricultural technology field for more than 35 years, launched a new podcast today. The podcast, POPagriculture, is produced in partnership with CropLife Foundation (CLF) and combines Savage's knowledge of agriculture with his penchant for pop culture resulting in an interesting and engaging series. The podcast ranges in topic from naturally occurring chemicals to "sick" plants, appealing to a broad audience with an interest in today's agricultural system.

"As a plant pathologist, I often talk about the importance of providing growers with the "tools" necessary to grow our food and POPagriculture provides a new avenue to communicate these critical messages," said Savage. "Reframing the agriculture conversation through the lens of pop culture provides levity to the serious pest, disease and weather-related threats facing crops, and each episode provides in-depth and relatable information about today's farming."

"The Foundation is excited to work with Steve and explore this re-emerged avenue of communication," stated Jay Vroom, vice chair of CLF. "When farmers, industry and others within the agricultural sector openly discuss the realities of farming, we can overcome pervasive misinformation and break down the communications wall between the farm and consumers."

Episodes of POPagriculture are available now on www.popagriculture.com and iTunes.
