All Eyes Look to Thursday and USDA Crop Production Numbers

Mon, 07 Aug 2017 05:58:11 CDT

All Eyes Look to Thursday and USDA Crop Production Numbers Coming this Thursday- USDA will be offering two important reports for the grain industry- the first field based survey for spring planted crops in the Crop Production Report based on August first information- and the regular WASDE Supply Demand Report.

Joe Vaclavik, founder and president of Standard Grain in Chicago, says the row crop numbers will be the "big ticket" items in the upcoming report- total acres that USDA expects to be harvested, yields per acre and total production. The acres harvested will be especially important for spring wheat because of drought conditions in central and western North Dakota and South Dakota- as well as in Montana.

Allendale reports that the pre report average guesses on what USDA will release Thursday morning includes: "US Corn production is 13.807 billion bushels on a yield of 165.9 bpa and Soybean production at 4.203 billion bushels on a 47.4 bpa yield, while All Wheat production is estimated at 1.717 billion bushels."

Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays offers a preview of this Thursday's USDA reports- featuring some comments from Vaclavik- and you can listen by clicking on the LISTEN BAR below.
