Noble Research Institute's Austin Miles, One of Five Selected for NCBA's 'Top of the Class' Program

Fri, 17 Nov 2017 14:24:51 CST

Noble Research Institute's Austin Miles, One of Five Selected for NCBA's 'Top of the Class' Program Noble Research Institute cattle and technology research associate Austin Miles has been selected as one of five to participate in the seventh session of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association's (NCBA) Top of the Class program.

This program is the next step for Masters of Beef Advocacy (MBA) graduates who wish to make a greater impact on behalf of the beef community. The program will equip participants with the training, knowledge and experience they need to be sources of information for national media outlets, journalists and consumers looking for more information about beef production.

"Austin is a tremendous asset to the Noble Research Institute," said Evan Whitley, Ph.D., cattle systems contract research manager. "He is a knowledgeable advocate for beef cattle management issues, and he is effective in communicating those issues to producers and others in the agriculture industry."

Miles is involved in the implementation and execution of the Noble Research Institute's beef cattle research efforts. His areas of specialization include: data management and analysis, animal stockmanship, and identification and implementation of innovative technologies relevant to beef production and animal husbandry. Miles also serves as program coordinator for Noble's Junior Beef Excellence Program.

"I am passionate about agriculture, the people I work with in the industry, and how we are able to cultivate food and fiber from the natural resources we are entrusted to care for," Miles said. "I hope to gain confidence in communicating with the public. I feel this program will help me grow as an advocate and steward of the agriculture industry."

Miles is a registered animal scientist through the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists. He is also a member of NCBA, Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association (OCA), Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA), and Cooke County Beef Cattle Improvement Association. He was also part of OCA's Cattlemen's Leadership Academy Class XXIV in 2016. Miles received his bachelor's degree in agricultural leadership and development in 2010, and his master's degree in animal science in 2012, both from Texas A&M University.

You can follow Miles on his Twitter and Instagram pages to see what his life is like as a father, husband, researcher and cattle rancher.
