Latest Crop Progress Report Indicates Climibing Winter Wheat Conditions as Fall Planting Wraps Up

In the latest crop progress report released Monday, November 20, 2017, the United States Department of Agriculture rated the US corn crop's harvest at 90 percent complete compared to 83 percent a week ago and last year's progress at this same time at 96 percent - and still lagging behind the average of 95. The US soybean crop is 96 percent harvested, up from 93 percent last week and just behind last year's 98 percent and the average of 97. For the complete USDA Crop Progress report, click here.
According to the weekly crop progress report from USDA, Oklahoma winter wheat emerged reached 90 percent, down 2 points from the previous year and down 2 points from normal. Winter wheat's condition is rated this week 37 good to excellent, 57 fair, and 6 poor to very poor. Sorghum harvested reached 83 percent, down 9 points from normal. In Kansas, winter wheat condition rated 3 percent very poor, 9 poor, 32 fair, 51 good, and 5 excellent. Winter wheat emerged was 90 percent, near 94 last year, and behind 95 for the five-year average. Corn harvested was 96 percent, near 100 last year and 98 the average. Sorghum harvested was 86 percent, behind 94 last year and 92 the average. Cotton condition rated 0 percent very poor, 3 poor, 24 fair, 62 good, and 11 excellent. In Texas, winter wheat emerged has reached 79 percent, ahead of last year and the average by 1. Winter wheat condition is rated this week at 41 percent good to excellent, 43 fair and 16 poor to very poor. Currently, corn harvested is up 2 points this week from last at 97 percent complete, on par with the average. Cotton harvested is at 67 percent, ahead of the average by 7.
