Tue, 12 Dec 2017 14:56:04 CST
Scott Biggs, State Executive Director for USDA's Farm Service Agency in Oklahoma will be the keynote speaker at the Annual Policy Meeting of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association. Biggs is an OCA member and formerly served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.
The OCA annual policy meeting is Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. with Biggs keynote address at the Reed Conference Center located in Midwest City, Okla. The OCA quarterly board of director's meeting will also take place in conjunction with the policy development meeting.
"I am excited to hear Scott Biggs just before we dig deep into our policy review process," said Weston Givens, OCA President and rancher from Arnett, Okla. "When it comes to OCA Policy Development, every member has a voice. The winter policy meeting provides OCA members an opportunity to consider and create policy that drives our organization."
The timing of the Winter Policy Meeting in late January allows for OCA members to discuss bills of the upcoming Legislative Session which begins in February as well as proposed policies for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA) Annual Convention the following week.
"Member engagement is vital to the success of policy development which will chart the course for our organization in the coming year," Givens said.
The schedule for the day will include adequate time for committee meetings so that OCA members can propose, debate and adopt policy. The day will conclude with the Winter Quarterly Board of Director's meeting.
"I encourage all OCA members to attend and participate by exercising their membership voting power, participating in discussions and bringing policy ideas," said Givens.
Early registration is $30 per person, lunch is included. Early register cutoff is Jan. 18. Register at www.okcattlemen.org.
