OK Cattlemen Join in Applause of Transporting Livestock Across America Safely Act's IntroductionWed, 23 May 2018 15:20:57 CDT
Michael Kelsey, executive vice president of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, offered the following reaction in response to news from the National Cattlemen's Beef Association that a group of US senators introduced legislation today that would reform the federal Hours of Service (HOS) rules in a way that ensures animal welfare, highway safety, and the well-being of livestock haulers.
“OCA is very excited about this legislation! After many months of tedious work led by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, this legislation provides common sense and workable solutions recognizing safety, animal handling and efficiency," Kelsey said. "On May 4th at the OCA Spring Quarterly Board Meeting, OCA board members were given a full update of this legislation by NCBA’s Allison Rivera who has led the discussion in Washington on this important issue. OCA will continue to work with NCBA in Congress this summer to advance this important legislation.”
