Frederick's Michael Cassidy Named 2018 Mr. Wheat by Oklahoma Wheat Growers

Frederick's Michael Cassidy Named 2018 Mr. Wheat by Oklahoma Wheat Growers Michael Cassidy was named the 2018 Mr. Wheat at the recent Oklahoma Wheat Growers’ Association annual meeting on August 9 in El Reno. The Oklahoma Wheat Growers’ Association is pleased to honor Mr. Cassidy for his many years of dedication to the Oklahoma wheat industry.

Michael served in the Boy Scouts of America as a youth graduating from Frederick High School in 1973. He attended OU and OSU graduating from OSU with a BS in accounting in 1977. Michael worked in gas accounting for Mobil Oil in Denver, Colorado before returning home to Cassidy Grain Company in 1978. Upon his father’s death in 1979, he became co-owner and President of Cassidy Grain Company at the age of 23. He remains in this position today. Michael served as Board of Director at the National Bank of Frederick from 1979-1984, Board of Director for the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality from 2002-2014, Board of Director for the Oklahoma Grain and Feed Association since 1984, serving as Chairman in 1991, 1992 and 2008, and is a member of the Oklahoma Wheat Growers’ Association and St. Helen’s Catholic Church.

In addition to the grain company, Michael has a wheat and cattle farming operation buying his first farm in 1982 which he farmed with a John Deere 4020 and a 14’ chisel. He has one son, Chase, one daughter, Kristine, and one grandson, Triston.

The Oklahoma Wheat Growers’ Association appreciates all the hard work and effort Mr. Cassidy provides to the wheat industry.
