Scott Blubaugh Elected President of the AFR/OFU Farm Organization for a Three Year Term at the 2019 Annual Convention

Scott Blubaugh Elected President of the AFR/OFU Farm Organization for a Three Year Term at the 2019 Annual Convention Over 900 delegates took part in the elections at the 2019 American Farmers and Ranchers/Oklahoma Farmers Union convention Friday and Saturday, February 15 and 16 in Norman. The marquee contest was the office of President of the Farm Organization, after word came in 2018 that incumbent Terry Detrick would not seek reelection in 2019.

Several explored the idea of running for the open position- and two decided to put their name up to a vote of the group's delegates. On Saturday afternoon- the election results were announced- and Kay County Rancher Scott Blubaugh was declared the winner with over 500 delegates voting for him- the delegates present at the Saturday afternoon general session quickly seated Blubaugh as President of the Farm Organzation and he was presented the gavel by outgoing President Detrick to make the start of a three year term official.

Right after the announcement, Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays spoke with the new President, who told him that "Our tradition that we have had here of developing the youth-supporting and being the voice for family farms across the state of Oklahoma for 114 years - I want to continue those traditions and build upon that."

Scott and his wife Lisa own an AFR Insurance Agency in Tonkawa- and Scott operates the 3,500 acre family farm/ranch that stretches across parts of Kay, Osage and Noble Counties. Blubaugh Angus raises Registered Angus Cattle and hold an annual Production Sale each spring.

Blubaugh is a graduate of the OSU Oklahoma Ag Leadership Program and besides his involvement with AFR, has served on his local Farmer COOP Board and currently is on the Northern Oklahoma College Ag Advisory Board.

Besides the Presidential election- three board seats were decided by the delegates. Jim Shelton of Vinita won the District 3 Independent Seat(northeast Oklahoma), Dustin Tackett of Fort Cobb won the District 2 Independent Seat(Southwest Oklahoma) and Mason Mungle was reelected to the statewide Independent Director Seat- each of these elected positions were also for three year terms.
