Oklahoma Hereford Breeders Take Home Honors at Legendary Fort Worth Stock Show

Oklahoma Hereford Breeders Take Home Honors at Legendary Fort Worth Stock Show Oklahoma's Hereford community was well represented earlier this month as exhibitors from across the country gathered to compete at the historic Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo for a shot at winning the title of grand champion on Feb. 4 in Fort Worth, Texas. A total of 233 Herefords were exhibited during the event. Of those that exhibited, several Oklahoma breeders earned top honors including Perry Show Cattle, Stillwater, Okla.; Curtis Curry, McAlester, Okla.; Victoria Chapman, Mannsville, Okla.; and Buck Cattle Co., Madill, Okla.



Judge Lydell Meier, Clinton, Tenn. evaluated the open bull and female show on Feb. 4.



Grand champion horned bull, BR Belle Air 6011 first won the horned senior bull division. Owned by Barber Ranch, Channing, Texas; Colyer Herefords, Bruneau, Idaho; Bill King, Moriarty, N.M.; and Rylee Barber, Channing, Texas, Belle Air is a February 3, 2016, son of BAR S LHF 028 240. The reserve grand champion horned bull and spring bull calf champion titles went to PCC 457Y Hondo 6049 ET owned by Michael Pérez, Nara Visa, N.M. Hondo is a March 6, 2016 bull who was first reserve in the senior bull division.



Winning grand champion polled bull and yearling champion bull was Hoffman Herefords, Thedford, Neb.; JB Show Cattle, Refugio, Texas; and Madeline and Carlisle Braman, Refugio, Texas, with H Montgomery 7437 ET. He is a March 11, 2017, son of UPS Sensation 2296 ET. Reserve grand champion polled bull and champion senior bull calf honors went to CH High Roller 756 ET, a September 28, 2017, bull owned by Blagg Herefords, Grass Valley, Calif.; Perry Show Cattle, Stillwater, Okla.; K Graham Blagg, Grass Valley, Calif.; and Curtis Curry, McAlester, Okla.



In the female show, grand champion polled female and champion spring yearling female went to Aubrey's Carly 4054 11E ET, owned by Gary and Kathy Buccholz, Waxahachie, Texas; and Aubrey Cattle Co., Monrovia, Ind. The April 15, 2017 female was sired by CRR About Time 743. Reserve champion polled female and champion senior heifer calf honors went to Hardy Malcolm Edwards IV, Winterville, GA, with H JB Two Timin Camey 175 ET. She is a Sept. 16, 2017, daughter of TFR KU Roll the Dice 1326.



Kynsleigh and Sage Krebs, Gordon, Neb., exhibited the grand champion horned female, JCS Miss Buttercup 7296. The April 15, 2017, daughter of JCS 88X 5847 ET first claimed champion horned spring yearling female. Victoria Chapman, Mannsville, Okla., won the reserve grand champion horned female and the champion senior heifer calf banner with BK Enchanting Points 7522E ET. She is a Nov. 7, 2017, daughter of CRR 5280.



This year's horned show honoree was GKB Cattle, Waxahachie, Texas and the polled show honoree was Robby Morrish, Port Lavaca, Texas.



Best six head were exhibited by Perez Cattle Co., Nara Visa, N.M. Perez Cattle Co. also exhibited the champion get-of-sire with a group sired by NJW 79Z 22Z Mighty 49C ET.



At the conclusion of the show, Payton Vogel, Hartley, Iowa, was named polled premier exhibitor. GKB Cattle Co., Waxahachie, Texas, was named horned premier exhibitor. Kirby Day Sims, Waxahachie, Texas, was named polled premier breeder and Buck Cattle Co., Madill, Okla., was named horned premier breeder.
