Mon, 09 Dec 2019 06:36:02
The program has been finalized for the upcoming "Heart of America Agricultural Hemp Classic," a producer conference open to growers throughout the Midwest who are interested in industrial hemp production. The hemp classic is a two-day event, which will be held on January 15th and 16th, 2020 at Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center, located at 18001 Bass Pro Drive, Independence, MO 64055.
The Missouri Hemp Association LLC, who is building upon the success of their sold-out conference in July of 2019, is organizing the conference. The program includes Midwest growers, hemp processors, legal experts, academia, genetics experts, and more. Current event sponsors include Kimitech, AgTeamPro, BigYield.us, and CertisUSA.
"We had a great turnout and a great program in July, and we wanted to make this conference even bigger and better," said Bill Cook, MHA Executive Director. "We are bringing in speakers from across North America to help our Midwest farmers succeed in the 2020 growing season."
The conference will be broken into two days, with the first day being a members-only dinner event. Registration for the members-only event will begin at 5:00 p.m. on January 15th, and dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. At 6:00 p.m. local growers and CBD extractors Michelle and Luke Poindexter of MoCann Extracts will discuss their experience growing a hemp crop in Kansas in 2019, as well as some of their expertise in CBD extraction.
A panel discussion will be held at 6:30 p.m. to discuss "Practices for Avoiding a Negligent Production Violation of Your Hemp License." Joining the panel will be Joel Cape of Cape Law Firm in Fayetteville, Arkansas and Joe Zahner, MHA counsel and conference M.C. Bill Cook will moderate the panel.
At 7:00 p.m. Travis Crittendon, a professional strength and conditioning coach in the Kansas City area, will discuss "The Health Benefits of CBD." A networking time for MHA members and conference sponsors will follow at 7:30 p.m.
The program for January 16th is open to the public, and registration will open at 8:00 a.m. At 9:30 a.m., Bill Cook will share his opening remarks. Anndrea Hermann will follow at 9:45 a.m. to discuss "Marketing and Selling a Hemp Crop." Anndrea was a crowd favorite during the MHA's July conference, and is joining us from Hemp Production Services in Manitoba, Canada.
The morning program will conclude with Aaron Jarvis, a representative of Phylos Bioscience out of Portland, Oregon, discussing "Genetics and the Differences Between Auto-Flowering and Photosensitive Varieties." Lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m.
The afternoon program will begin at 1:15 p.m. with Andy Huston presenting a "Hemp Production Overview." Andy is CEO of American Hemp Research in Illinois, and was the first farmer in Illinois to grow and harvest a hemp crop in 2018.
At 2:30 p.m. Allen Freeman, the Hemp Program Administrator for the Missouri Department of Agriculture, will be joined by Joe Zahner of the MHA to discuss "Hemp Licensing and Regulations." Closing remarks will take place at 3:15 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to stay and network with other attendees, MHA members, and sponsors after the event concludes.
"If you are interested in producing hemp in the American Heartland, you should both join the MHA and attend the hemp classic," said Cook. "This is an opportunity you don't want to miss, and we look forward to seeing you there."
