Corn Harvest Reaches 92%, Cotton Harvest Reaches 89% Nationally in Final Crop Progress Report of the Year

Corn Harvest Reaches 92%, Cotton Harvest Reaches 89% Nationally in Final Crop Progress Report of the Year The United States Department of Agriculture released its latest Crop Progress Report on Monday, December 9, 2019. According to this week's report, harvest of the corn crop remains well behind the five-year average but still there was continued harvest progress. Focusing on corn, harvested came in at 92% this week versus 89% last week, the five-year average at this time is 100%. Harvest of the 2019 Cotton crop is just ahead of the five year average at 89% versus 83% last year, the five-year average at this time is 86%

Across the southern plains -                 


In Oklahoma, soybeans harvested reached 90%. Soybean's condition this week is rated 54% good to excellent, 36% fair and 10% poor to very poor. Cotton's condition this week is rated as 35% good to excellent, 54% fair and 11% poor to very poor. Pasture and Range condition this week rated as 50% good to excellent, 38% fair and 12% poor to very poor.

Finally in Texas, winter wheat planted reached 93%, ahead of 91% last year and on average. Winter wheat emerged reached 83%, ahead of 80% last year and 81% on average. Winter wheat's condition this week came in at 23% good to excellent, 47% fair and 30% poor to very poor. Cotton harvested reached 82%, versus 74% last week. Cotton's condition this week rated as 23% good to excellent, 45% fair and 32% poor to very poor. Soybeans harvested reached 95% versus 93% last week. Soybean's condition this week rated as 31% good to excellent, 48% fair and 21% poor to very poor. Pasture and range conditions this week rated as 17% good to excellent, 38% fair and 45% poor to very poor.
