OSU's Kim Anderson Talks about the Upward Movement in the Grain Markets

Thu, 22 Oct 2020 16:23:40 CDT

OSU's Kim Anderson Talks about the Upward Movement in the Grain Markets Oklahoma State University Extension Grains Market Analyst Dr. Kim Anderson talks about what is going on in the Wheat Markets weekly on SUNUP.

This week Dr. Anderson talks about the movement of the prices in the grain markets, "Well we still have prices moving up. You look at wheat we've got 15-16 cent price increases moving up this week, corn is up 11-12 cents, soybeans up 25 cents. We are continuing a gentle trend upward and I think that is good." This week on SUNUP, as drought conditions expand, we talk with John Weir about ways landowners can protect their property against fire.

- Then, in the Mesonet weather report, Wes Lee shows us how dry conditions are at different soil depths. Gary McManus says lack of measurable precipitation is impacting the drought monitor, but a little help could be on the way.

- Derrell Peel tells us how wheat pasture conditions can impact the cattle industry.

- In Cow-Calf Corner, Glenn Selk explains how limiting hay usage can help producers conserve hay while maintaining weight goals in cattle.

- Kim Anderson says wheat importers around the world are stocking up due to COVID concerns, which is causing prices to continue to steadily climb.

- Roger Sahs explains how the survey he sent out can help land renters value their leases.

- Finally, in Naturally Speaking, Dwayne Elmore shows us how to build a simple escape pole for wildlife trapped in water tanks.
