Night of Stars Gilt Sale Sets Record With a Million Dollar Sale- Two Gilts Sell for a Record $60,000 Apiece

Night of Stars Gilt Sale Sets Record With a Million Dollar Sale- Two Gilts Sell for a Record $60,000 Apiece Records were smashed at the 2021 OYE Night of Stars Gilt Sale held as an matinee event on Sunday afternoon, March 28th at the OKC Fairgrounds. The 2021 sale totalled a million dollars - almost double the $545,000 dollar total for the 2019 sale. Average per gilt sold hit $7850.

Six gilts sold for $30,000 or more- with the Reserve Supreme Champion Purebred and the Supreme Champion Commercial Gilt each commanding $60,000- besting the previous all time record of $40,000 for a Poland gilt back in 2019.

The Reserve Supreme Champion Purebred that brought $60,000 was the champion Poland, shown by Bray Wright of Waukomis 4-H- his pedigree shows a Black Mamba x Rain Dance lineage bred by Ritchey Livestock. (Pictured above)

The Supreme Champion Commercial Gilt that also bought the record $60,000 was owned and showed by Haydon Green of Wellston 4-H- his gilt has a pedigree of Next Intention x Dirty Secret- bred by Cantrell Show Pigs.

The third highest gilt was actually in the second half of the sale- Lot 73 out of 127 gilts was the 40th crossbred in the sale and brought $45,000- owned by Holden Winters of Altus with a pedigree of No Mas x Lil Bro- and bred by Moliet Genetics.

The Supreme Champion Purebred Gilt- the Spot owned and shown by Gadson Jervis of Blanchard 4-H- sold for $35,000 with a pedigree that shows Lampoon x Momentum and Gadson was the breeder.
