Fantasy World Awaits OKC Farm Show Visitors When They Visit Matsen Miniature Farms Booth

Visitors to the Oklahoma City Farm Show can step into a fantasy world taking them back to their days as children on the farm when they visit with Shawn Lockwood in the Matsen Miniature Farms booth.
Lockwood was interviewed Friday by Radio Oklahoma Agriculture Network Associate Farm Director and Editor KC Sheperd.
It's the best of both worlds, playing with toys at the farm show, Lockwood said.
We have many of the Ertl stock items, plus many custom-made items used primarily in the display world.
The goal is to give a lot of detail with at least five primary points, he said.
Some are licensed components where we work with manufacturers and have agreement to produce it, he said.
Everything from dry bulk feed trucks, stock trailers, tractors and hay equipment are on display, many with actual functioning parts.
Many grandparents and parents have purchased these toys and handed them down to the next generation.
Matsen will travel the country where the toy world is a big deal, especially in the northern states of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
We go to shows dedicated to farm toys in those states, Lockwood said.
It's a seasonal occupation as most people who enjoy farm toys are farmers so whenever they are out of the fields, they go to their basements and play with their farm toys, Lockwood said.
Lockwood's company, Lockwood Angus Farm Custom Farm and Ranch Toys, is one of the few companies dedicated solely to building 1/64 scale agricultural toys. The company is based in Glencoe, Okla.
It's takes many hours to build individual toys, he said, often employing lasers and 3-D printing.
