Cattlemen Elect Leadership and Set Policy at Their 69th Annual Convention

The business session at the 69th Annual Convention of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association saw the changing of the guard in their volunteer leader lineup. Mike Weeks of Stuart has served the last two years as the President of the cattle organization. He thanked members for th opporutnity to serve as he stepped down from the stage, leaving the job of President of OCA to Dover, Oklahoma cattle producer Byron Yeoman.

Newly elected Distrct Vice Presidents include Jeremy Kinder of Faxon for the Southwest District and Jesse Beirig of Ringwood for the Northwest District.
OCA also elected by accilmation seven new District Directors:
Norhwest- Kyle Barby of Beaver and Kristi Sproul of Isabella.
North Central- Tim Stidham, Blackwell
Northeast- Jeff Owen, Vinita
Southwest- Jordan Cook, Cordell
South Central- Kelly Albrecht, Wapunucka
Southeast- Curtic Curry, McAleaster
Eariler in the business session- the members gathered affirmed the actions of the Joint Committees on Friday to approve policy regarding the McGirt Vs Oklahoma Supreme Court Ruling, Live Cattle Negotiated Trade and Medical Marijuana. Radio Oklahoma Ag Nework Farm Director Ron Hays talked about the business sessions once complete on Saturday afternoon with Michael Kelsey, Executive Vice President of the OCA about the Task Forces that worked on these issues and how the members massaged and enacted the recommendations into policy for the group.

On Saturday evening, the OCA honored several indivduals- including State Representative Gary Mize with their OCA Legislative Appreciation Award, Terry Chapman of the Livestock Marketing Association for the OCA's Distinguished Service Award and Harold Gillenwaters as the 2021 OCA Cattleman of the Year.
