Strong Demand and Higher Prices Seen in December Second Superior Video Auction

Superior Livestock Auction hosted their December 2nd video auction live from the Superior Livestock Office & Studio located in Hudson Oaks, Texas. Cattle producers offered almost 29,000 head of calves, yearlings, and breeding stock from 24 states for this auction. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through April 2022. Superior Livestock went live with the auction at 8am CT. The December 2nd Video Auction was broadcast on SLA-TV, Dish Network Ch. 997 and streamed on Superior Livestock Auction's Click To Bid website. Favorable market conditions and increased slaughter volume for the week all led to a an upwardly trending market report.
Region 3/4/5/6 feeder steers witnessed a strong buyer demand with 700 to 800 pounds fully steady and 800 pounds and up were $3 to $5 higher. Feeder heifers also were in strong demand at $3 to $6 higher on all weights. Region 1 & 2 feeder steers and heifers were in light test but a higher undertone was apparent on all weights. Beef Dairy Crosses were in strong demand $10 to $15 higher with most advances on lighter weights. Region 1 & 2 weaned calves were fully steady with strong demand on light fleshed grazing condition calves. Region 3/4/5/6 weaned calves were $2 to as much as $10 higher again most advances on thin fleshed calves weighing under 600 pounds for grazing purposes. Demand is already showing up for spring grazing with increasing optimism. Calves on cows also saw strong demand with buyers again paying up for health protocols.
