Strong Demand Seen for Cattle in Our Region in Final Superior Video Auction of 2021

Superior Livestock Auction hosted their December 16th Video Auction live from the Superior Livestock Studio in Hudson Oaks, TX. Cattle producers offered over 22,000 head of calves, yearlings, and breeding stock from 22 states for this auction. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through the end of May 2022. Superior Livestock went live at 7:30am CT with Superior Sunrise and the auction followed at 8am CT. This December 16th Video Auction was broadcast on SLA-TV, Dish Network Ch. 997 and streamed on Superior Livestock Auction's Click To Bid website.
Region 3/4/5/6 feeder steers and heifers were fully steady with our last auction. Region 1 & 2 feeder steers and heifers with good test showed strong demand at prices $3 to $5 higher than our last auction. Beef Dairy crosses also saw strong demand as buyers are being very selective on genetics on sires selected for marbling and muscling traits. Region 1 & 2 weaned calves were well received as feeders are in short supply and buyers turned to long weaned calves on good vaccination protocols. Light calves in western area were in strong demand to go to grazing on California grass after much need moisture arrived. Region 3/4/5/6 saw strong demand for light grazing weaned calves which were in light supply. Heavier weights and calves on grow ration and carrying flesh were on a soft note at $3 to $4 lower. Bred stock prices again for the last two sales showed buyer strength and demand and buyers being very selective on quality and breed type. AI program heifers with short calving period were well received at $200 to $300 advances from last test.
