Thu, 06 Jan 2022 14:15:34 CST
Cattlemen's Congress is in full swing at the State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City.
A world-class facility for a world-class show. The Cattlemen's Congress was formed in the fall of 2020 to present an opportunity for cattlemen and women across North America to exhibit their cattle and showcase the highest quality genetics the cattle industry can offer.
Over 9000 head of cattle, of all breeds have gathered together to showcase their hard work.
Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt made the Rounds at the Congress. Afterward, Farm Director KC Sheperd had the opportunity to visit with him to get his thoughts on the 2nd year of Cattlemen's Congress, "I'm just so happy that they are here! This is the 2nd year in a row, and this is going to be a tradition now that I hope lasts for 100 years, and we will continue to invest in this facility."
Still said as we move past Cattlemen's Congress this month and look forward to next months legislative session, he still has goals to make Oklahoma a top 10 state, "In Oklahoma, we are cutting taxes, we are reducing regulations, we're making it easier for Oklahomans and businesses to thrive here. So that's my overall goal to make Oklahoma top 10 in everything that we do."
Stitt said he also has plans in the upcoming months for infrastructure that will be very exciting for roads and bridges in Oklahoma.
Stitt said he often talks to people that aren't from Oklahoma that appreciates the way the state does business, "They love the fact that we aren't mandating and dictating to their citizens. I don't believe in mandates. I trust Oklahomans to make the right decision. The government should not be making decisions for people. We believe in Freedoms, and I'm going to protect that way of life in Oklahoma."
