Angus Claims Both Supreme Open Champions at the 2022 Cattlemen's Congress

Supreme drives at the major national cattle shows in the US were not a part of the landscape until the Cattlemen's Congress brought the concept south from Canada in 2021. The 2022 Cattlemen's Congress featured it's Supreme Drive on Tuesday evening in the Jim Norrick Arena at the OKC Fairgrounds with over fifty Breed Champions chasing the elusive prize of being named a Supreme Champion from the Open Class Bull and Heifer Shows held to date- as well as the Supreme Junior Heifer.


It was a two step process where three judges evaluated all of the animals in each Supreme drive- they choose their top five and then of those animals- they ranked them all and the champion with the least number of ranking points was named the Supreme Champion in each of the three categories.


The Angus breed came away with two of the three top awards- with the Champion Angus Bull shown by Seldom Rest Farms of Niles, Michigan being named the Supreme Open Bull of Cattlemen's Congress. (Supreme Champion Bull picture is above)


The Supreme Champion Open Class Heifer was also the Champion Angus Heifer- shown by Rob Oakley of Livingston, Tennessee. Rob's hefier is the picture is below our story.

The first of the three Supreme Champiobs chosen was the Supreme Junior Female- and a total of 26 young men and women brought their Champions out into the ring. The last female left standing in the Junior Supreme drive was the Champion Maine Anjou Junior Heifer- owned and shown by Ramey Yoakem of Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
