OCA's Michael Kelsey Calls Senator Jim Inhofe a Great Friend to Oklahoma Beef Cattle Producers
Fri, 25 Feb 2022 21:32:56 CST
When it comes to friends in Congress- Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe ranks right at the top of list for beef cattle producers in Oklahoma- so says Michael Kelsey, Executive Vice President of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association. Kelsey reflected on the legacy of Senator hours after it was officially announced by the Senior member of the Oklahoma Congressional delegation that 2022 would be his final year in Congress- as he plans to resign January 3, 2023, allowing whoever wins a special election this year to fill his seat in Congress for the four years remaining in his sixth term in the Senate.
Kelsey says a great example of how Senator Inhofe advocated for farmers and ranchers came in the Obama years as President saying that when "he served as Chair of the EPW- the Environment and Public Works Committee in the Senate and just really held the Obama Administration to task over WOTUS."
Kelsey adds he watched Inhofe "erect barricades against bad policy while advancing good policy regarding WOTUS when the opportunity arose."
Kelsey offered his comments to Ron Hays, Senior Farm and Ranch Broadcaster with the Oklahoma Farm Report on Friday afternoon after the announcement by Senator Inhofe of his plan to conclude his decades of public service in Washington.
