Over Three Hundred Vendors Greeting Farmers and Ranchers at 2022 Oklahoma City Farm SHow

Fri, 08 Apr 2022 04:48:45 CDT

Over Three Hundred Vendors Greeting Farmers and Ranchers at 2022 Oklahoma City Farm SHow Foot traffic for the opening day of the 2022 Oklahoma City Farm Show was good- even as the spring winds were gusty outside for the vendors in front of the Bennett Event Center at the OKC Fairgrounds. John Riles with Midwest Farm Shows, the owner of the show as well as the Tulsa Farm Show that happens each December, was pleased by the first day turnout. He told Oklahoma Farm Report's Ron Hays that interest by companies and organizations that wanted to exhibit at the 2022 event had been strong leading up to the show- and that resulted in 330 vendors being a part of the 18th annual Farm Show operated by his family's company.

The show originally started out as the Southern Plains Farm Show and the name was changed to match how they identify the other farm shows they operate in the upper midwest- by the city name. Riles says that they always look forward to coming south from Minnesota each spring to operate the Oklahoma City Farm Show- as it's a safe bet that it will be warmer than home here in April.

Riles also told Hays that they are pleased to see the gradual return to more normal peron to person interactions at the 2022 event- which follows two years of operating the show in pandemic conditions. The 2020 show had to be postponed from April to June because of COVID- and the while the show did happen- the Bennett Center was just a little more than half full. The 2021 event was held at it's normal time- but masks were common- especially being worn by the vendors and the crowds were not as large as pre-Covid. There were also some vendors who chose to sit up booths and leave information at their booths but not man them. But for those who did show up and interact with the farmers and ranchers who attended- Riles says they were told by more than one vendor that 2021 was one of their best shows ever- he says that was an example of not having the biggest crowd but rather having the right crowd that was looking for products they needed to farm or ranch.

Riles pointed out that that some of the traditional things that are a part of the Oklahoma City Farm Show are in place- morning coffee and pastries at 9 AM for early arrivers- the opportunity to register for the drawing of $1000 in showbucks at 1 PM each day(must be present to win), the cattle chute demos twice daily, the mower riding demos and country singer Rusty Rierson who has become a regular ar both the Oklahoma City as well as Tulsa Farm Shows.

Two days remain for the 2022 Oklahoma City Farm Show. Admission and Parking around the Bennett Center are free- show hours are 9 AM to 5 PM on Friday and 9 AM to 4 PM on Saturday.
