Superior Livestock May 19th Sale Reports Yearlings and Stockers Steady to Higher Across the Country

Superior Livestock Auction hosted their May 19th Video Auction live from the Superior Livestock Auction Studio in Hudson Oaks, Texas. Cattle producers offered more than 31,350 head of calves, yearlings, and breeding stock from 21 states. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through November 2022. Superior Livestock went live with the auction at 8 a.m. CT. The video auction was broadcast in HD on SLA-TV, Dish Network Ch. 997 and streamed on Superior Livestock Auction's Click to Bid website. Although uncertainty still lingers among the industry and economy in general, Superior Livestock produced an upwardly trending market report.
Region 3/4/5/6/ feeder steers were well received at fully steady prices on all weights compared with last test. Bidding was very aggressive as buyers are vying to meet increasing demand. Feeder heifers from the same regions were also well received, marking prices $3 to $4 higher. Region 1/2 feeder steers and heifers were lightly tested and saw fully steady to $2 higher. Beef dairy crosses were mostly steady. Region 3/4/5/6 calves saw lighter weights, 580 pounds and under, $8 to $10 higher on both steer calves and heifers in very strong demand. It was apparent that good moisture covered much of the Midwest. Heavier weights were fully steady to $4 higher. Bred stock also saw strong demand.
