T.W. Shannon Strongly Believes in America First Agenda

Wed, 25 May 2022 11:17:23 CDT

T.W. Shannon Strongly Believes in America First Agenda Farm Director, KC Sheperd had the chance to speak with T.W. Shannon, former Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, who is now running for Senator Jim Inhofe's seat. Shannon visits with KC about why he chose to run and what makes him a special candidate.

"I am a Christian, I am a capitalist, and I am a conservative," Shannon said. "That makes me a democrat's worst nightmare. I am concerned about the direction of our country and the way that the Biden agenda is bankrupting Americans."

Shannon said he believes that Americans under Joe Biden are less safe, less prosperous, and less free. He added that America needs a conservative who prioritizes America first and can go to Washington D.C. and push back against the left agenda.

"Having served as Donald Trump's national chair for Black Voices for Trump, I learned the importance of the America first agenda," Shannon said. "We have to talk about what made this country great to start with."

From religious liberty to a free economy, Shannon believes in preserving the values upon which America was founded on.

"We are talking about the idea of capitalism where we are actually a free economy," Shannon said. "Where we use the principles of capitalism to move people from generational poverty into the middle class."

Capitalism, Shannon says is the only system that has ever preserved life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

"Our founding fathers got it right," Shannon said. "We just need to listen to them."

Having served as a banker, a CEO and as a business guy, Shannon said this gives him a unique experience, but having led a caucus as a Speaker of the House is what he believes gives him the ability to connect with people, but also to form an agenda and lead.

"I am the only credible candidate in this race west of 1-35," Shannon said. "I think that makes a big difference."

Western Oklahoma, Shannon said is a different part of the state that sometimes goes unrecognized by those on the east side of 1-35. Being a sixth-generation Oklahoman, Shannon said is what makes him believe that all people have is their story.

"My story is really simple," Shannon said. "This state and this country have been very good to me, and I feel like to whom much is given, much is required. So that is why I am running."

As far as high fertilizer prices and input costs for agricultural producers go, Shannon said the first thing we must do is more drilling. Shannon said we must move oil prices back to a reasonable level, which starts with opening up drilling on federal lands and making sure that we are addressing the current supply chain issue which has created a lot of the challenges.

"I am disappointed that Americans are sending 40 billion dollars to Ukraine," Shannon said. "At the end of the day, we have got all kinds of shortages and needs here in the country and I think that it was a mistake for folks to join with the Biden agenda and support that 40 billion dollars."

Shannon said with pressing needs in our country night now, we need to put America first.

"We must have the strongest defense in the world," Shannon said.

The number one challenge facing the world today, Shannon said, is the question of whether the next century will be led by America or the Chinese.

"If it is going to be led by America, we must do two things," Shannon said. "Number one, we have got to continue to have the greatest military the world has ever seen. There can be no competition. Number two, we have got to get our fiscal house in order. We have got to make sure that we get our debt under control because right now, the politicians in Washington D.C. are bankrupting America."
