Good to Excellent Rated Cotton in Oklahoma Drops Almost 10 Percentage Points Since Last Week

Good to Excellent Rated Cotton in Oklahoma Drops Almost 10 Percentage Points Since Last Week According to the USDA’s weekly crop progress report, U.S. corn and soybean development was behind the average pace, but conditions for both crops held mostly steady last week. Cotton conditions remain steady compared to last week as the crop progresses.


Nationwide Cotton:

Nationwide cotton squaring reached 74 percent, up 7 percentage points from the previous year and 4 points from the average. Cotton setting bolls reached 31 percent, up 9 points from the previous year and 4 points from the average.

Cotton conditions rated 38 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair and 27 percent poor to very poor.


Nationwide Corn:

Corn silking for the U.S. has reached 37 percent, down 15 percent from last year and 11 points from the average. Corn dough reached 6 percent, down 1 percentage point from last year and the average.

Corn conditions rated 64 percent good to excellent, 25 percent fair and 11 percent poor to very poor.


Nationwide Soybeans:

Soybeans blooming reached 48 percent, down 13 percentage points from the previous year and 7 points from the average. Soybeans setting pods reached 14 percent, down 7 points from last year and 5 points from the average.

Soybean conditions rated 61 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair and 10 percent poor to very poor.

Oklahoma:

Cotton squaring reached 55 percent, up 6 points from the previous year and up 2 points from normal. Cotton conditions rated 26 percent good to excellent, 43 percent fair and 31 percent poor to very poor.

Soybeans emerged reached 90 percent, up 7 points from the previous year and up 6 points from normal. Soybeans blooming reached 13 percent, down 2 points from the previous year and down 4 points from normal. Soybean conditions rated 61 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair and 10 percent poor to very poor.

Corn silk in Oklahoma reached 43 percent, down 2 points from the previous year and down 8 points from normal. Corn crop conditions are rated 66 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 11 percent poor to very poor.

Oats harvested reached 82 percent, up 14 points from the previous year and up 3 points from normal. Oat conditions were rated 29 percent good to excellent, 53 percent fair and 18 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum headed reached 20 percent, up 3 points from the previous year but down 3 points from normal. Sorghum conditions were rated 47 percent good to excellent, 42 percent fair and 11 percent poor to very poor.

Peanuts pegging reached 44 percent, up 5 points from the previous year but down 1 point from normal. Peanut conditions were rated 63 percent good to excellent and 37 percent fair.

Hay:
The second cutting of alfalfa hay reached 90 percent, up 1 point from the previous year and up 3 points from normal. The third cutting of alfalfa hay reached 20 percent, down 2 points from the previous year and down 19 points from normal. The second cutting of other hay reached 35 percent, up 16 points from the previous year and up 7 points from normal.

Pasture and Livestock:
Pasture and range condition was rated 29 percent good to excellent, 36 percent fair and 34 percent poor to very poor. Livestock condition was rated 50 percent good to excellent, 41 percent fair and 9 percent poor to very poor.

Kansas:

Cotton squaring reached 83 percent, 6 points up from last year and 23 points up from the average. Cotton conditions reached 44 percent good to excellent, 47 percent fair and 9 percent poor to very poor.

Soybeans blooming reached 37 percent, behind last year’s 47 percent and the 46 percent average. Soybean conditions rated 56 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 11 percent poor to very poor.

Corn silking reached 47 percent, 7 percent behind last year and 10 percent behind the average. Corn conditions rated 47 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair and 22 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum headed was 8 percent, 4 percentage points behind last year and 2 points behind the average. Sorghum conditions rated 40 percent good to excellent, 40 percent fair and 20 percent poor to very poor.

Range and Pasture:
Range and pasture conditions rated 34 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair and 38 percent poor to very poor.

Texas:

Cotton squaring reached 68 percent, up 8 percent from the previous year and 4 points from the average. Cotton conditions rated 21 percent good to excellent, 40 percent fair and 39 percent poor to very poor.

Corn silked reached 77 percent, down 6 points from the previous year and 2 points from the average. Corn conditions rated 25 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 42 percent poor to very poor.

Soybeans blooming reached 77 percent, up 3 percentage points from the previous year and 9 points from the average. Soybean conditions rated 47 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair and 29 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum headed reached 77 percent, down 5 percent from the previous year and up 3 percent from the average. Sorghum conditions rated 19 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 48 percent poor to very poor.

Peanuts pegging reached 28 percent, down 2 percent from the previous year and 4 points from the average. Peanut conditions rated 27 percent good to excellent, 58 percent fair and 15 percent poor to very poor.

Range and Pasture Conditions:
Range and pasture conditions rated 2 percent good to excellent, 13 percent fair and 85 percent poor to very poor.
