Fri, 12 Aug 2022 09:05:42 CDT

OCA Ranch Rodeo Honors Oklahoma's Agricultural Education Instructors, OSU Extension Educators and 4-H Leaders Oklahoma’s Agricultural Education Instructor and Oklahoma State University Extension Educators will be honored at the 38th Annual Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) Ranch Rodeo. The event takes place August 19 and 20 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Okla. and consists of twelve ranch teams of ‘real ranch’ cowboys that compete in five different events mirroring many of the activities of daily ranch life.

“Teaching, instructing, and cultivating agricultural youth is vitally important to Oklahoma agriculture, the beef industry and our association. OSU Extension Educators work with our county cattlemen’s groups and provide beef producers with resources and services that are valuable and appreciated,” said Weston Givens, Chairman of the OCA Ranch Rodeo Committee. “We are working with the State FFA Office and the Oklahoma State University Extension state staff to ensure that each educator receives a free ticket voucher for an enjoyable evening of fun.”

Agricultural Education instructors, OSU Extension Educators and 4-H Leaders will be given Ranch Rodeo ticket vouchers when they fill out the form on our website. To fill out the form they need to go to www.okcattlemen.org/oca-annual-ranch-rodeo

“Bring the family and cheer on your favorite ranch team,” Givens said.

The 2022 participating ranches include: 4V Cattle & Cross V, Bristow; Buford Ranches, Hominy; Daube Cattle Co. & 3C Cattle Co., Ardmore; Drummond Land & Cattle Co., Pawhuska; Gray G Bar Ranch, Shidler; Lazy Rafter Slash, Lenapah; McPhail Land & Cattle, Mountain Park; Quarter Circle 99 & Rafter D Ranch, Loco; Spur Ranch, Vinita & Ford Drummond Ranch, Pawhuska; Stuart Ranch, Waurika; Trentman Ranch, Pawhuska and Stierwalt Ranch & Cattle Co., Shidler; Whitmore Ranch & Sumner Cattle Co., Delaware.

The competition is fierce, but the cowboys do not take home much more than bumps and bragging rights. They participate with one goal: to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation (CHF).

“CHF has been the benefitting charity of the event since 1997 and in that time the OCA Ranch Rodeo has raised more than $585,500 for the Children’s Hospital Foundation,” said Givens. “When you purchase a ticket to the OCA Ranch Rodeo, you are supporting Oklahoma children and their families.”

CHF funds children’s medical research and treatment for children right here in Oklahoma. The funds raised for CHF in Oklahoma, stay in Oklahoma.
According to Givens, the Oklahoma Ford Dealers have supported the OCA Ranch Rodeo since the beginning as the presenting sponsor.

Doors open at 5 p.m. for shopping in the trade show and the performance begins nightly at 7 p.m. Learn more about the OCA Ranch Rodeo at www.okcattlemen.org/oca-annual-ranch-rodeo. Purchase your tickets at lazye.com.
