As President Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 today, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Chairwoman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, welcomed the nearly $40 billion she secured in the legislation to tackle the climate crisis, lower costs for families, and create good paying jobs in rural America.
“Now that President Biden has signed this historic bill into law, we can get to work bringing energy costs and gas prices down, creating good-paying jobs, and helping our farmers and rural communities do even more to address the climate crisis,” said Chairwoman Stabenow. “With these landmark investments, we are equipping farmers, foresters, and rural communities with the tools they need to be a part of the climate solution, while boosting their economic success at the same time.
The climate-smart agriculture, forestry and rural energy programs in the Inflation Reduction Act are supported by more than 1700 farm groups, companies, environmental advocates, leading economists, local elected officials and municipalities, and trade associations.
