Oklahoma Ag Expo Coming up November 7-9 in Norman, Oklahoma

Wed, 26 Oct 2022 10:18:29 CDT

Oklahoma Ag Expo Coming up November 7-9 in Norman, Oklahoma Associate Farm Editor, Reagan Calk, got the chance to visit with the Oklahoma Grain and Feed Association’s Director of Communications and Special Events, Ashley Tucker, and the Director of Member Services, Tammy Ford-Miller, about the upcoming Oklahoma Ag Expo, which will be held on November 7-9 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Hotel and Conference Center in Norman, Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Ag Expo, Tucker said, is put on by the Oklahoma Grain and Feed Association and the Oklahoma Agribusiness Retailers Association each year. This year’s expo will feature a golf tournament, a trade show, a silent auction, many guest speakers, and allow visitors to obtain Continuing Education Units for Certified Crop Advisors.

“We pride ourselves in being able to create an event that reaches a lot of different individuals in the industry,” Tucker said.

Tucker said the event will kick off with a golf tournament on Monday, November 7. After the tournament, Tucker said individuals will have the opportunity to register and take some fumigation courses.

To register for the golf tournament, Tucker said visitors can visit oklahomaag.com.

“That golf tournament is for scholarships,” Tucker said. “We see the importance in investing in our young people who want to invest and have a career in agriculture, so that is what those golf funds will be for.”

The expo and trade show, Tucker said, will become live on Tuesday, November 8. The expo will feature many different speakers who will present information on pest management, storage and transportation of fumigants, pollinators, disease management, and more.

“Our Ag PAC, Agricultural Political Action Committee for OARA and OGFA, will be hosting a live and silent auction on the first Tuesday of Expo, November 8,” Tucker said. “That will be in the evening time. All of these proceeds and everything go right back to the legislative and statewide elections coming up.”

Miller said the Ag PAC supports those who are in favor of agriculture.

“We have to be responsible for educating those that make up the urban areas about the importance of agriculture,” Miller said. “This is why we do that silent auction that evening to raise funds for those.”

Tucker said anyone is welcome to register and listen to the guest speakers at the expo, regardless of intent towards earning CEUs.

“So, when you do register, that is also registering you to be eligible to receive those CEUs,” Tucker said. “We have about 400 to 500 registered so far, so we are looking forward to a really great event. Around 65 exhibitors as of right now, and we have a loaded golf tournament. We are super excited to bring folks together and look forward to the expo on November 7-9.”
