As Oklahoma Wheat Plantings Wrap Up, Ratings of Good to Excellent Conditions Increase

Nationwide Winter Wheat:

Winter wheat planted in the U.S. reached 92 percent, up 2 percentage points from the previous year and the average. Winter wheat emerged reached 73 percent, even with the previous year and down 1 point from the average.

Winter wheat conditions for the states reported rated 30 percent good to excellent, 36 percent fair, and 34 percent poor to very poor. Since last week, poor to very poor conditions have decreased by 1 percentage point, and good to excellent conditions have increased by 2 points.

Nationwide Cotton:

Cotton harvested for the U.S reached 62 percent, up 8 percentage points from the previous year and up 7 from the average.

Nationwide Corn:

Corn harvested for the U.S. reached 87 percent, up 4 percentage points from the previous year and up 11 points from the average.

Oklahoma:

Winter wheat planted reached 90 percent, up 2 points from the previous year and up 1 point from normal. Winter wheat emerged reached 75 percent, up 4 points from the previous year but down 2 points from normal. Winter wheat conditions rated 14 percent good to excellent, 44 percent fair and 42 percent poor to very poor. (Since last week, good to excellent ratings have increased by 3 points and poor to very poor has increased by 6 points.)

Cotton harvested reached 45 percent, down 2 points from the previous year but up 6 points from normal. Cotton conditions rated 10 percent good to excellent, 25 percent fair and 65 percent poor to very poor. (Since last week, good to excellent cotton conditions have increased by 4 percentage points.)

Corn harvested reached 95 percent, down 2 points from the previous year but up 2 points from normal.

Sorghum harvested reached 80 percent, up 1 point from the previous year and up 7 points from normal.

Soybeans dropping leaves reached 95 percent, down 1 point from the previous year but up 5 points from normal. Soybeans harvested reached 55 percent, down 6 points from the previous year but unchanged from normal.

Peanuts harvested reached 70 percent, up 4 points from the previous year and up 1 point from normal.

Rye planted reached 85 percent, down 4 points from the previous year and down 4 points from normal. Rye emerged reached 60 percent, down 6 points from the previous year and down 5 points from normal.

Canola planted reached 85 percent, up 1 point from the previous year and up 5 points from normal. Canola emerged reached 48 percent, up 13 points from the previous year but down 2 points from normal.

Hay:

The fifth cutting of alfalfa hay reached 55 percent, up 11 points from the previous year and up 5 points from the previous week. The fourth cutting of other hay reached 50 percent, up 29 points from the previous year and up 5 points from the previous week.

Range, Pasture, and Livestock:

Pasture and range conditions rated 4 percent good to excellent, 14 percent fair and 82 percent poor to very poor. Since last week, poor to very poor conditions have increased by 2 percentage points.

Livestock conditions rated 22 percent good to excellent, 53 percent fair and 25 percent poor to very poor.

Kansas:

Winter wheat emerged was 68 percent, behind 79 percent last year and 76 percent average. Winter wheat planted was 93 percent, near 94 percent last year, and equal to the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 26 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair 42 percent poor to very poor.

Corn harvested was 93 percent, equal to last year, and near 89 percent average.

Soybeans harvested was 88 percent, ahead of 78 percent last year and 79 percent average.

Sorghum harvested was 82 percent, ahead of 77 percent last year and 70 percent average.

Cotton harvested was 65 percent, well ahead of 16 percent last year and 19 percent average.

Pasture and Range:

Range and pasture conditions rated 5 percent good to excellent, 16 percent fair and 79 percent poor to very poor. Range and pasture ratings are unchanged from last week.

Texas:

Winter wheat planted reached 88 percent, up 5 percentage points from the previous year and up 7 points from the average. Winter wheat emerged reached 67 percent, up 5 points from the previous year and 3 from the average. Winter wheat conditions rated 14 percent good to excellent, 37 percent fair and 49 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton harvested reached 51 percent, up 1 percentage point from the previous year and up 3 points from the average.

Sorghum harvested reached 100 percent, even with the previous year and up 6 percentage points from the average.

Corn harvested reached 100 percent, up 1 percentage point from the previous year and up 7 points from the average.

Peanuts harvested reached 60 percent, up 3 percentage points from the previous year and up 9 points from the average.
