Oklahoma’s Good to Excellent Winter Wheat Ratings Continue to Increase Slightly – Up by 5 Percent Since Last Week

The U.S. winter wheat, corn and soybean harvests inched ahead to within single digits of completion by the end of last week.

Nationwide Winter Wheat:

Winter wheat planted in the U.S. reached 96 percent, up 2 percentage points from the previous year and up 3 points from the average. Winter wheat emerged reached 81 percent, up 1 percentage point from the previous year and even with the average.

Winter wheat conditions for the 18 states reported rated 32 percent good to excellent, 36 percent fair and 32 percent poor to very poor. Since last week, good to excellent winter wheat conditions for the U.S. has increased by 2 percentage points.

Nationwide Cotton:

Cotton harvested reached 71 percent, up 7 percentage points from the previous year and up 8 points from the average.

Nationwide Corn:

Corn harvested reached 93 percent, up 3 percentage points from the previous year and up 8 points from the average.

Oklahoma:

Winter wheat planted reached 95 percent, up 2 points from the previous year and up 2 points from normal. Winter wheat emerged reached 82 percent, up 1 point from the previous year but down 1 point from normal. Winter wheat conditions rated 19 percent good to excellent, 39 percent fair and 42 percent poor to very poor. (Since last week, good to excellent conditions have increased by 5 percentage points.)

Cotton harvested reached 61 percent, up 2 points from the previous year and up 11 points from normal. Cotton conditions rated 5 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair and 64 percent poor to very poor. (Since last week, good to excellent cotton conditions have decreased by 5 percentage points.)

Soybeans harvested reached 70 percent, up 1 point from the previous year and up 5 points from normal. Soybean conditions rated 19 percent good to excellent, 44 percent fair and 37 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum harvested reached 92 percent, up 8 points from the previous year and up 11 points from normal. Sorghum conditions rated 9 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair and 61 percent poor to very poor.

Peanuts harvested reached 85 percent, up 6 points from the previous year and up 7 points from normal. Peanut conditions rated 84 percent good to excellent, and 16 percent fair.

Rye emerged reached 75 percent, down 5 points from the previous year and down 2 points from normal.

Canola emerged reached 67 percent, up 1 point from the previous year but down 2 points from normal.

Hay:

The fifth cutting of alfalfa hay reached 60 percent, up 11 points from the previous year and up 5 points from the previous week. The fourth cutting of other hay reached 55 percent, up 22 points from the previous year and up 5 points from the previous week.

Pasture and Livestock:

Pasture and range conditions rated 4 percent good to excellent, 14 percent fair and 84 percent poor to very poor. Since last week, poor to very poor pasture and range conditions have increased by 2 percentage points.

Kansas:

Winter wheat planted was 96 percent, equal to both last year and the five-year average. Emerged was 75 percent, behind 85 percent last year and 83 percent average. Winter wheat conditions rated 24 percent good to excellent, 36 percent fair and 40 percent poor to very poor.

Corn harvested was 96 percent, near 95 percent last year and 93 percent average.

Soybeans harvested was 93 percent, ahead of 84 percent last year and 86 percent average.

Sorghum harvested was 90 percent, ahead of 82 percent last year and 80 percent average.

Cotton harvested was 79 percent, well ahead of 28 percent last year and 30 percent average.

Pasture and Range:

Pasture and range conditions rated 5 percent good to excellent, 14 percent fair and 81 percent poor to very poor. (Since last week, poor to very poor conditions have increased by 2 percentage points.)

Texas:

Winter wheat planted reached 93 percent, up 5 percent points from the previous year and up 8 points from the average. Winter wheat emerged reached 75 percent, up 5 points from the previous year and up 4 points from the average. Winter wheat conditions rated 18 percent good to excellent, 34 percent fair and 48 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton harvested reached 61 percent, up 2 percentage points from the previous year and up 5 points from the average. Cotton conditions rated 12 percent good to excellent, 18 percent fair and 70 percent poor to very poor.

Soybeans harvested reached 98 percent, up 2 points from the previous year and up 7 points from the average. Soybean conditions rated 13 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair and 63 percent poor to very poor.

Peanuts mature reached 85 percent, up 9 percentage points from the previous year and up 10 points from the average. Peanuts harvested reached 70 percent, up 3 points from the previous year and up 2 from the average.  Peanut conditions rated 28 percent good to excellent, 51 percent fair and 19 percent poor to very poor.

Range and Pasture conditions:

Range and pasture conditions rated 16 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair, and 57 percent poor to very poor.
