Conserving Pollinators in Oklahoma’s Gardens, Farms and Ranches

Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Farm Service Agency (FSA) and the Oklahoma Tribal Conservation Advisory Council (OTCAC) will partner together for a free conservation workshop on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

The “Conserving Pollinators in Oklahoma’s Gardens, Farms and Ranches” workshop will meet in person this year. Join the agencies to discuss the importance of Pollinators, Sustainable Soils, Horticulture Methods, Key Steps for a Soil Test, NRCS Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), USDA agency updates and information on the locally led process to identify resource concerns.

Speakers for this event are Michael Ramming, NRCS; Mike Rose, Mayes County, OSU Extension; Haleigh Barnes, Ottawa County Extension; Brian Jervis, Tulsa County, OSU Extension; Ray Moranz, Ph.D., NRCS; Mattie Alewine and Wendy Ink, Farm Service Agency (FSA); Shirley Hudson, Ottawa County Conservation District, and Carol Crouch, Ph.D., NRCS.

Partners that will also present information include the National Agriculture Statistic Service (NASS), and Adair, Cherokee, Delaware, and Sequoyah Conservation Districts.

When: Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

Location: Inter-Tribal Conference Room, 21 N. Eight Tribal Trail, Suite “C” in Miami, Oklahoma.

NRCS assists producers with implementing conservation concerns and addressing resource concerns and FSA administers a wide variety of programs covering commodity crops, livestock, conservation, and disaster programs with varying degrees of requirements for participation. Landowners and operators are encouraged to utilize workshops and webinars to learn more about the 2018 Farm Bill Programs and to ask questions regarding USDA programs.
