Oklahoma Ag Day at the Capitol on April 11th

Don’t Miss Ag Day at the capital on Tuesday, April 11. This is always an excellent opportunity to get a great look at the many aspects of agriculture in our state.

Several vendors will be on hand at the event on the Second Floor Rotunda. There will be some tasty samples of Oklahoma products as well as the Oklahoma Cattlewomen and the Oklahoma Beef Council who will be promoting beef with their tasty samples!

The annual event celebrates the impact agriculture has in Oklahoma while highlighting the many commodities grown across the state.

Oklahoma Farm Bureau members along with other agriculture organizations and Made in Oklahoma producers will be sharing the story of agriculture at their booths in the rotunda of the Capitol with guests and legislators.

Bob Howard, a longtime Southwest Oklahoma wheat, pasture, and cattle producer, has been named the 2023 recipient of Governor Stitt’s Outstanding Achievement in Agriculture Award. Howard is the 26th inductee into the Oklahoma Agriculture Hall of Fame, which is the state’s most prestigious agricultural honor.

Today, Oklahoma Forestry Services staff hosted a crosscut saw competition for the employees at ODAFF. Thirteen teams competed, with Dr. Rod Hall and Dr. Alicia Gorczyca-Southerland of animal industry services setting the winning time at 18.31 seconds.

Oklahoma boasts a significant forestry industry, primarily the in the southeast area of the state, contributing $3.8 billion in output and employing more than 8,900 people in 2020. Tomorrow, we will highlight the forestry industry and celebrate all Oklahoma agriculture at Ag Day at the Capitol. We hope you will join us!
