Oklahoma Cattlemen Applaud Action Taken by Attorney General Drummond

The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) applauds Attorney General Drummond’s suit against the Biden Administration’s overreach regarding the Lesser Prairie Chicken. Western Oklahoma cattle raisers have done and continue to do a great job preserving and promoting wildlife habitat. OCA appreciates Attorney General Drummond’s commitment to protect Oklahoma ranchers from these unnecessary burdensome regulations.

OCA is a part of a coalition of states within the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) working to push back on the USFWS for the onerous designation of the Lesser Prairie Chicken.

Attorney General Drummond joined forces with the attorneys general from neighboring states in states joined in a lawsuit against the Biden administration over a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFW) rule that designates the lesser prairie chicken as endangered or threatened under the Endangered Species Act.

The rule, which took effect last week, places burdensome restrictions on Oklahoma ranchers who graze livestock and unnecessarily impedes the development of energy pipelines, oil drilling, wind farms and roads.

The OCA is the trusted voice of the Oklahoma Cattle Industry and works to protect and empower Oklahoma cattlemen today, to serve tomorrow. OCA is the only voice that speaks solely for the cattlemen of Oklahoma and represents beef producers in all 77 counties across the state. The OCA officers, board of directors and membership encourages you to join us in our advocacy efforts to ensure less government intervention, lower taxes and a better bottom line.
