With the increase in air travel expected to continue this year, airports will be busy and security lines will be long. Air travelers can ease their pain and get through checkpoints faster by taking advantage of a special TSA PreCheck® enrollment opportunity this month in Edmond.

AAA and IDEMIA, a TSA PreCheck® authorized enrollment provider, are hosting a TSA PreCheck® event at the AAA Edmond Car Care, Insurance and Travel Center, 1701 S Broadway Ave., Edmond, OK 73013-4014 from May 28 – 31Appointments are required and limited and can be scheduled here. Appointments are available Tuesday – Thursday, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, and Friday, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

The enrollment process is quick, convenient and even faster when the application is completed online beforehand. The in-person enrollment requires that applicants provide proof of identity, proof of citizenship, fingerprints and a photo.  IDEMIA offers TSA PreCheck® enrollment for $78 and if approved, travelers get a five-year membership with the program. The program is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and lawful permanent residents.

Following the in-person enrollment appointment, most applicants receive their Known Traveler Number (KTN) in about three to five days. The KTN number must be added to flight reservations to enjoy TSA PreCheck® benefits.

TSA PreCheck® was created in December 2011 as a way to provide low-risk travelers with a smoother experience through airport security. It’s a great option for travelers looking to save time.  Enrolled members do not need to remove shoes, laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts, or light jackets. They also access TSA PreCheck® dedicated screening lanes at over 200 participating U.S. airports nationwide.

“With the summer vacation season just around the corner, this TSA PreCheck® enrollment opportunity couldn’t come at a better time for travelers anticipating long airport lines,” said Rylie Fletcher, spokesperson for AAA Oklahoma.  “TSA PreCheck® enables identified low-risk air travelers to enjoy an expedited and efficient security screening experience.”

TSA PreCheck® is valid for 5 years.  In addition, children ages 12 and younger may use the TSA PreCheck® lane when traveling with a parent or guardian who has the indicator on their boarding pass.

Children 17 and under can join an adult with TSA PreCheck® when the TSA PreCheck® indicator appears on the child’s boarding pass.
