The National Cotton Council (NCC) applauds the House of Representatives
for passing a Continuing Resolution that funds the government through mid-March, while extending
farm bill provisions for one year and providing critical disaster assistance and emergency economic
assistance for cotton and other crops. The much-needed economic and disaster relief will help mitigate
the financial stress caused by a combination of increased production costs, weakening market prices, and
production losses caused by natural disasters.
NCC Chairman Joe Nicosia stated, “We thank House members for supporting the end-of-year
spending package that provides farmers the additional support they desperately need. We strongly urge
the Senate to follow suit in a timely manner so that the bill can be moved to the President’s desk.”
Nicosia added, “With recognition that the current package does not fully address the needs of all
industry segments, we urge the next Congress to move quickly in early 2025 to pass a new farm bill that
gives our industry the enhanced long-term support we need.”
